Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis)

The Eastern Gray Squirrel (or tree rat according to some) is a native to most of eastern North America up into part of central Canada. In Europe it is an invasive species in places. They are know for hording (by burying) food for winter, and for their nests high in the fork of trees. They are a plague on people who prefer birds to feed from their bird feeders rather than squirrels. WE have a lot of squirrels around the Galloway property.
