Yellow Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus)

The Yellow Flag Iris is a beautiful, but invasive species from Eurasia. This is the yellow flowering pl;ant that we see in the detention ponds in mid-Spring. Despite its wetland preference, yellow flag iris rhizomes can survive periods of severe drought. The showy, typically yellow flowers bloom from April to June and unlike other iris species, are beardless.
