Loaded Donkey - Fes, Morocco. April 2015
In some places, the donkey still serves its purpose as a universal beast of burden. In Fes, the very narrow streets preclude the use of motorized vehicles except motorbikes and the patience, economy, mobility, ubiguity, and utility of the donkey eigns still. This photo, taken in 2015, could well have been taken 50 or more years ago except for the small wheeled vehicle in the background.
Mukhtar
Mukhtar was our local guide for a day-long visit to the village of Tinghir along the Todra River south of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Mukhtar was a great guide with a wonderful sense of humor, love of his place and community, and full of knowledge to impart.
Snake Man
Typically I avoid "showmen" when we travel, but this character was so entertaining and engaging that I couldn't help myself. And his snakes appeared to be in good health as well.
Moroccan Man
I encountered this man while waiting for Anne outside of a shop in a small town in the Atlas Mountains. He was standing there timidly begging and I felt compelled to reach into my pocket and hand him some coins. When I pointed to my camera and then to him, it was obvious that he wanted to have his picture taken, and his response upon seeing the picture was my reward.
